Building Your Foundation We’ll begin our journey at the majestic Mount Erie, where your transformation into a confident lead climber starts with essential fundamentals. Through personalized instruction, you’ll master the critical systems of lead belaying, develop efficient clipping techniques, and understand fall dynamics in a supportive environment. The day unfolds with valuable “mock leading” exercises that allow you to practice the sequential flow of lead climbing while receiving immediate feedback, creating muscle memory and instilling the movements that will become second nature on the rock face.
Practice for Leading We’ll reconvene at Mount Erie and ease into the day with accessible warm-up climbs to reinforce yesterday’s lessons. As your movements become more fluid and your systems more automatic, the day’s progression leads to the moment you’ve been preparing for—your first authentic lead climbing experiences on carefully selected moderate routes. With instructors providing supportive supervision and backup, you’ll apply your new skills in real-world scenarios, culminating in the profound satisfaction of completing your first lead climbs by day’s end!
